Parks & Recreation
The City of Holts Summit operates and maintains two parks within the city. Hibernia Station Park is an approximate 8-acre park surrounding city offices. A majority of the park is located between North Elementary School and the Holts Summit Municipal Building. Hibernia Station Park features an outdoor open-air pavilion and includes an outdoor basketball court. In addition to the pavilion and outdoor basketball court, the area also features several play structures for all ages; as well as an ADA accessible play area. The city has recently partnered with Callaway County Special Services to build a brand-new "Inclusive Park" that will be adjacent to the current ADA accessible play area.
Greenway Park is an approximate 55-acre park located on South Greenway Drive. Greenway Park includes Howard and Case baseball fields, the amphitheater pavilion, the Civic Center building, a disc golf course, gravel walking trail, two outdoor sand volleyball courts, and a small lake. Greenway Park is also home to the city's annual fireworks festival that is held in celebration of the 4th of July each year.
Both parks also feature a paved walking trail with various pieces of exercise equipment along the path.
The parks system and all of the facilities are funded and maintained through funding from the city's General Fund. The General Fund is responsible for funding all administrative staff and expenses for all city departments, all staffing/costs/expenses related to public safety and the Holts Summit Police Department, as well as all expenses related to maintaining and repairing/replacing the parks system and/or facilities.
